The One Year Window- 2/24/11 - Since entering the league in 2009 the Red Sox have compiled an overall record of 17-21, far from impeccable. Without knowing anything about our league you could probably have guessed that this team has yet to make it out of the first round of the playoffs. What you might not have guessed though is that this team has everything you need to win a championship....except for just one thing. This one thing has kept the Red Sox from being elite, from winning a playoff series, and from winning a championship. This one thing has prevented the 'Sox from putting Mohonasen, a whole school district, on the wiffleball map. Well Moho's, worry no more, cause you're about to be put on... by a kid from Scotia.

What the Red Sox have been lacking in order to put them over the edge of eliteness is a solid number two pitcher. With all apologies to Matt hogan i don't think the 'Sox could have gotten enough out of Matt to win a championship. effective? Yes. Winning you a championship? No. Neither Chris and Tom from the Cards or the Kelly brothers from the Indians won a championship last year and they were statistically two of the best rotations in league history. Matt should find a comfortable spot in the 3rd slot of the rotation but this year is all about the addition of T.O. Forget a solid #2, the guy is an awesome #1 for any team and has the stats and hardware to back it up. Heres where the story gets interesting. T.O. has only signed a 1-year deal and has been public about forming his own team for 2012. What this all boils down to is the Red Sox 1 year window. Talk about now or never, there will likely never be a bigger free agent acquisition made by the Sox, so if you plan on winning a world series championship, the time is now...and only now.

I would go so far as to say they dream of it, or that they'd rather win a championship than have children, because losers shouldn't have children. Given the elevated expectations for the Red Sox this year I believe its fair to say it's championship or bust, but we mustn't expect them to go undefeated or jump off the bandwagon if they start slow. It's a long season, longer than ever and T.O. himself is testament that it isn't how you start it's how you finish.

I know winning a championship is not the only reason the Red Sox play in the league and that is very much to their credit, however I will not concede that John Dyer, Matt hogan and the rest of the guys wouldn't absolutely love to win a championship and to plow through Hess, longo, the Kelly's and whoever else along the way. You will no doubt get politically correct responses from most of the Red Sox about how they feel like every year they have a team that could win it and theres no pressure on them to win it now. It's all bullshit. In 2008 His team started 0-6 before finishing 6-0 and won a Lamb Championship, in 2009 his team started 5-0 but finished 4-7 and were clobbered in the Lamb championship, in 2010 his Rockies started 1-4 and finished 10-2 en route to a world championship. You must be playing your best come playoff time so expect this topic to re-appear as we get closer to July. For the meantime lets just kick back and enjoy the ride that the old man, little hogan, Johnny Hollywood and T.O. take us on, because no matter where it leads, you know one thing with the Red Sox; it's gonna be fun.
